“What are you doing?”

June 7, 2011

I don’t have a story, but I can tell some from friends…

1) My friend Steve’s family has a cabin up in the Lake Tahoe area that is haunted. He’s told me stories about people passing ghosts in the hallway at night, dresser drawers turning themselves over onto the floor while keeping the clothes perfectly folded inside, hearing crazy noises (like people are fighting) when no one else is home. He’s got quite a few stories…

2) My best friend from high school, Jamie, moved to a house in North Carolina shortly after we graduated. They believed the house was haunted because of weird stuff that would happen. The first thing was that the dogs and cats were completely freaked out of a certain spot in the hallway. They would stand there staring at it before finally running full speed down the hallway, and they always jumped right over the spot they had been staring at. They refused to run right over the spot.
Jamie’s mom once reported that she was sitting in the kitchen balancing the checkbook late one night when she heard someone whisper in her ear, “What are you doing?” She jumped and turned around, but no one was there. She checked the house and everyone was fast asleep in their beds. Freaked her out.
Jamie said the scariest thing that happened to her was that she woke up in the middle of the night and needed to go to the bathroom. So she got out of bed and started to cross the room, when suddenly everything went pitch black and it felt like someone was standing in front of her blocking her way/view. She freaked out, screamed, and leapt back into bed. Her parents came running, but by the time they arrived nothing was there. Months later, Jamie’s mom experienced the exact same thing when she tried to get up in the middle of the night.

3) The grossest story I know came from a friend of Steve (from #1). The friend began to suspect their apartment was haunted because they’d hear weird noises, things would disappear, doors would slam, etc. They did some research and found out that a woman had been killed in the apartment some time before. Grossly enough, whoever had murdered her then took her body parts and nailed them to the walls in the bedroom. So they took a blacklight into the bedroom and you could still see where the body parts had been nailed, and how the blood had dripped down the walls. Yuck. They never “saw” any ghosts though.
